Long have I been a fan of the Citi ThankYou Prestige card. Amex also has some high end cards like the Amex Platinum card. These types of cards demand a high yearly cost, but come with a good signup bonus, and great perks for use during your membership year. Up until now, Chase has not gotten into the high end card market... that is about to change.
Chase has announced that the newest card in their arsenal is a high end card set to compete with the likes of the Citi Prestige and Amex Platinum cards. The new card from Chase is called the Chase Sapphire Reserve card, and the sign-up bonus is the best you'll see out of any card. Chase has set the the signup bonus to be 100,000 Ultimate Rewards points. We've seen 100,000 point signups before, but they are very rare, and this one may very well be worth the yearly price of $450.
Outside of the sign up bonus, here are some more perks:
- $300 Per Year Travel Statement Credit
- $100 Global Entry/TSA Precheck Application Fee Credit
- Priority Pass Select lounge access
- Each point can be redeemed through Chase Ultimate Rewards travel portal for 1.5 cents (0.25 cent increase)
The killer here may be the bonus points category though. The reserve card will bump restaurants and travel points earned to 3x. I already use Chase Sapphire Preferred for my restaurant purchases, but the reserve will let me gain points on travel and restaurants at a better rate. The travel bump puts it at parity with the Citi Prestige card. This would let me diversify my points earning more, which is always welcome.
This new card promises to be pretty amazing, and it is planned to be available starting Sunday. So keep you eye out for it, we'll give you the link on Sunday when it become available.
