The aim of all of this travel talk is to get myself someplace unique or amazing in the world and get some really great photos of that place. In the coming year my travel list if quickly growing larger and larger. Since I last spoke about my travel plans, I’ve added plans to go to Washington DC for an event, and plans to visit the airshow in Oshkosh, WI… both in July. Do I have the time to do all of this? Well that is a good question, I think I do, but that does take some creative time management sometimes.
With one planned award flight next year though, how do we get the required points to pull all of this off? As stated in previous articles, credit card sign up bonuses are a big part of the game. A big deal in this area is the Starwood program. It is a hotel points program, but the great thing about Starwood is that they transfer to over 30 airlines, including my beloved American Airlines. Often with a bonus if you transfer a certain number of points. At the beginning of the month, the Amex Starwood preferred Guest card started to offer a bonus of 30,000 points after hitting the minimum spend limit. This is 5,000 points higher than their standard offer.
About this time every year, this card gives a bonus like this. It is probably the highest sign up bonus that you will likely see from this credit card at any time. Luckily this was a planned card for me, and it happened to start offering this bonus about the time I was looking at my next round of card sign ups. So I was lucky to take advantage of this bonus for myself. However, these bonus increases are always for a limited time, and this one is no different.
Tomorrow is your last chance to jump on this opportunity and sign up for this card, so if you are interested in the points game and the Starwood Preferred Guest Amex is one that appeals to you, today may be the time to take advantage of it. Get it while it’s hot
